I -AM - FINISHED- THIS- SEMESTER

FINALLY.
And only by the grace of God.

Annotation assignment was submitted before work!

Freedom feels pretty good.
Now if I could just balance the accounting tonight.

Movie watching is going to peak at a all time high.

Here are some Paul Kane painting I looked at today. He sketched the first paintings of Fort Victoria.

"Return of a War Party," 1847. Songhees village (left) and Fort Victoria (right).
Painting by Paul Kane (Royal Ontario Museum).

If you look closely or saw the original like I did in the B.C archives, the warriors at the head of the canoes are holding up the heads of their enemies by the hair ( no Pun intended) . Just to let you know Paul Kane paintings are inaccurate in the finer details especially when regarding Songhee/ Lekwungen customs according to Ethnologists. He sketched his subjects in at the moment but painted the painting years later in England with "artistic elborations".

Vancouver Island Lekwungen blankets were made from the fur of special dogs which they bred for this one purpose.
That breed of dog no longer exists. I am fairly sure you can thank the Europeans for that one.
