do you miss Tofino? Are you glad to be back?

I believe that nothing is ideal except for memories. When I imagine Tofino as Eden I remind myself of the hardtimes inorder to keep balanced. Tofino is a place that relies heavily on outdoor activity. When you work a full time job in the winter you miss the daylight hours and are left with very few options. Last year I worked a second job at a video store to keep me entertained. I watched alot of movies and read. I thought staying through the winter would be mean I would surf bigger and better waves more often. The truth is you surf on your days off and the average surf is double overhead. Its a great rush don't get me wrong but a far cry from relaxing. Summer time in Tofino is a completely other story but everyone misses the summer.
What I miss the most is just Surfing. There is nothing in this world that brings the elation and joy that surfing does. It makes morning a pleasure. After a good surf I felt I could handle anything. Surfing once you have equipment is free. So other than groceries I never gave cash much thought.

Victoria life can be very negative influenced. People have a hard time enjoying the simple things for what they are worth though they are more relaxed that larger cities. Life here evolves around money. Spending is a constant. But the city is rich with beauty. I saw an Eagle soaring this morning! Its a battleground for the youth. For the most part I believe we are all bored and restlessness. When the young leave it will be with great force and strong momentum never to return. This place for me is one of transition. I am hear to collect knowledge then move on.

I do feel very lost and out of place here. But I have some great friends and a wonderful family who keep me sane.

I would like to also mention that their are some great people in Tofino who have impacted my life immensely. Thank you Jen. B for helping me grow in my relationship with God and for all the laughs! Thank you to Marge and Colin for the great lessons and suppers ! Thank you to Crystal Cove Beach Resort which changed my work etiquette drastically for the better. The Cove will be my second family forever.

Funny, that's how I feel too. Glad we're on the same page. Victoria really is a beautiful place, and I'll enjoy my stay while I'm here, and may even end up back here with a family one day...but till then I shall roam.
