La Notte (1961)

Michelangelo Antonioni
Completely detached.

I walked out on this movie.
The characters complete lack of passion made me nauseous. I was going to be sick if I stayed.
This was hard for me to admit because Antonioni's films have always been a treat for me.
I believe I felt the emotion he wanted me to feel. These people were lifeless moving from visiting a dieing friend in the hospital to a decadent party in a mansion with the same expression and removed from of communicating.
A young woman tries to seduce Giovanni but she is deemed insane for her passion and the nurses come to strap her to a bed. He moves unscathed to his car parked outside the hospital and tells his wife who nonchalantly comments " of course you did".

These people scare me. Personally I was going through some events that made it even harder to watch this.
They experience no extremes. Just moving laterally from place to place having the same conversation that means nothing to them.

Sorry La Notte. Maybe when I watch you again in a couple of years I will be able to stomach you.

Hopefully I would'nt.
