Vertigo
Hi
I am in Victoria.
Things for your to expect:
- Surf trips
-Watching me dance like a crazy person at live concerts were they play real live Electric Guitar!(no offence Tofino acoustic but you need cojonnes)
- New Kimmade Super eight films and film screenings. Also Be part of my Crew ! you know you want to.
-Hot yoga. More and more hot yoga,
- Running from A to B then to C and back round again but faster !
-Beach trips at night.
-Movie watching, movie criticizing and movie sharing.
I watched Vertigo by Hitchcock and as embrassing as this is to admit it is the FIRST Hitchcock I have watched all the away through.
With modern movies and their ability to follow the steps of storytelling to a very obvious degree I thought I could predict Hitchcocks narrative.
I thought WRONG.
There were more BELIEVABLE twists and turns than a over wrapped christmas present.
Alot of the action takes place between Scottie (Jimmy Stewart) and Judy (Kim Novak). Scottie is a dectective suffering from acrophobia(heights) and Judy is his love interest. The Symbolism surrounding the hallowed institution of marriage is astounding. Most of the action takes place in an abandoned Catholic church. There is a large tower at the top were he continually has to face his fear of heights. He is propeled to climb the tower by either a search for the truth or to save his love interest. Hitchcock clearly feels even in 1958 that marriage is an archaic ruin. Jimmy Stewarts acrophbia could be his fear of higher level commitment. The reason he climbs up the marriage tower is to chase his love interest/ prevent her from killing herself or to find if he has been duped. I wouldnt give away too much but the plot is Brill and B+W cinematography is to die for. The secondary female character is his friend/ ex lover / super smart girl with nerd glasses and GREAT cardigan pleated skirt combos. She has FANTASTIC witty one liners. Poor Midge never gets the attention she deserves. She has everything a man could want, a job, a great hobby(painting!), great conservative outfits, great sarcastic one liners and most of all she is honest while caring. Damn it I would never get my man in a 50's film.
Question: Would anyone be down for a Hitchcockathon ?
