On monday everyone was being lazy homebodies while I had a hunger for exploration.
So I did what any Kim would do and I called the boys pansies and set of by myself.
First I went to the end of Sharp road where there is a path to a rock ledge that faces clayqout sound.
To my surprise I hadnt gone since last August and construction for a home was taking place right in front of my old hangout!!!
Making it impassable.
Development.
Can you spot my path in the brush ? It was a tease to see on the other side of a deep pit.
I do believe the house that was being buildt was for the man who lives at the end of the road in a little trailer.
He also has a good 50 chickens. They were hanging around the road and pecking ( lovingly) at my ankles.
I then went to a road that I had explored on my bike after a surf. This road is just before Cox Bay and has some of the nicest noveau rich bohemian houses I have seen in Tofino. At the very end of the road where the land meets the sound there is a large gravel foundation where a house will be buildt in the future. I had made a mental note to come back sans bike so that I would be free to sneak across the foundation and bush whack to the sound. I decided Monday would be the day I would go back and claim the sound for the middle class. Turns out not much bush whacking was needed as a path with multi colored search and rescue tape had already been made. The trade mark of every worth while path in Tofino. It lead to a part of the sound called Jensen Bay. There was this bog like wheat rustling in the light breeze. I saw a flock of at least 100 birds take off from the brush on one side of the bay in a uniform fashion and glide just above the water to the other end. It was breath taking.
I never want to stop exploring.
