Ty and I ran 42.6 km today. Which is the distance from Tofino to Ucluelet.
We had the early start at 7:30 am.
One section of the race was to run across North and South Chesterman. I thought that meant along the packed sand to Frank Island and then through all of South Chesterman. I was really pre-occuopied with not cheating mostly cause I have never been in the lead of a race. It felt weird like when you a finish a test before everyone else then wonder if maybe you missed a page. Apparently I ran more than the route required. A lot more. So the woman who was behind before was slightly in front of me. At the parking of South Chesterman she looks over her shoulder to inform me that I took the longest way possible then ends her statement with " Did you enjoy the view?". I responded with " Yes I did thanks for asking" then sprinted ahead of her and didnt see her till close to the end of race. I was in the lead until 32km then a shooting pain went up my back that forced me to jog. For the last 8km I was in a signficant amount of pain.
It was an experience.
Next year I will either seriously race the half marathon or start training in January so that I can work myself up to two 40km runs a week then I could race the 40km. I did see a doctor at the end of the race and he told me my pain is not from my hip or a pinch nerve. My pain is caused by an imbalance of muscle in my core.
Apparently there is too much in the back and not enough in the front.... Story Of MY LIFE !!
At a later date there will be photos now I am going to watch Fellini movies till I pass out.

Congratulations!for the body, well done ,very amazon, nice sports bra.Kimmy,I do not comprehend why do insist in pushing yourself to the limit OF NORMAL HUMAN resilience .In antiquity the guy who did the first marathon, actually expired, his name was irrelevant, they all remember a lost battle, and a small part of the population ,very small, continue this dangerous tradition. But,you being kimmy, wants to top up, and run EXTRA!Kind like 'The riders of the lost track 'However,my brain's cells do not compute in the subject of running ,more then 100m,so the whole exercise is surreal.I shell FIRMLY refuse to think about your freighting plans for January.,people do not run in winter, long distances ,this is a Nordic country ,in case you have not notice. What I try to bring to your attention is that you are definitivelly NOT IN SPAIN, where a very, very small percent of the population insist in the marathon tradition [see above]But at THE end of the day Iam so, so impressed.! love,Mom
