Surf Cam

It took me 28hrs from landing in Tofino to remember the JOY of Surf web cams.

Cox bay (the fartherest surf beach from where I live) is 4km away.
The old routine of checking surf forecast websites the night before inorder to create the best possible surf scenario. When the intervals between sets are the highest, the highest wave height and the least amount of on shore winds. Translation: The largest most powerful waves that hold their shape the longest amount of time.

Then through your predetermined calculations you wake up at the earliest time this mythical scenerio could possibly happen get your laptop open to one of webcams and judge the image.

If Cox Bay looks bad then you check the closest beaches first. If it looks like it is " going off"( the stars align, a giant rainbow has filled the sky and unicorns are playfully galloping the length of the beach) then you get to it as fast as possible. No time must be wasted checking other beaches.

Tonight the old surf crew ( Ty, Justin, Eric, Jess and I) have decided tomorrow at 10am is when the winds will die down but it is low tide. It floods until 4pm that is high tide. So around 11:30 we check the webcams and prepare for 1 o'clock surf start and stay out till 5.

Web cam here or another one here.

Check us out tomorrow and you may see us among the surfers !
Today there was no surfing due to NorthWest winds blowing at 80km per hour. Booooo!

This Shows you what I am trying to explain in words.

Funny Fact: The movie Endless Summer was in fact filmed in the winter. The best waves happen in the winter because swell is created by storms. This movie should me titled the Endless Winter. But that doesn't sell dreams or movie tickets now does it ?
