Memory Cues

Both retrospective cued-memory tasks and event-based prospective memory tasks require that cue and target information be associated, and that aspects of that association be reinstated for successful remembering. These functional similarities between retrospective memory and prospective memory were the bases for the hypothesis that the familiarity and the distinctiveness of the target event (cue) would influence prospective memory performance. ... Additionally, prospective memory performance did not reliably correlate with explicit retrospective memory tasks (recall and recognition), but did correlate with an indirect retrospective memory task (word fragment completion).

I had these cassettes as a child. I can hear my mom asking my dad if it was appropiate for me to be listening to Tom Waits. If I asked questions my dad would say" I will tell you when you are older". I spent hours staring at the Heart Attack and Vine cover, I remember it scared me but at the same time I was drawn to it. Tom Waits strewn around my floor with my other cassettes: Vilvadi( four seasons), Tchaikovsky ( the nutcracker), Jerry Lee Lewis ( a hit complilation my dad made) and Little Richard ( self titled).

I loved screaming out the lyrics to " the girl can't help it".
